Marca Relli
Idle talk is parasitic on genuine talk. You have to be able to understand language and its discoursive, coordinative, disclosive, coordinated projecthood in order to understand talk which is not discoursive, coordinative, disclosive or coordinated. I decided that I was going to start blogging. The idea was that I was going to bare my soul to the whole of English-reading community every day. In this way I would accumulate a corpus. Some of it sort of worked. Some sort of herd-instinct is involved to use Nietzsche’s term. What are they talking about today? They are talking about that story. Well I want to talk about that story otherwise I will be talking to no one. In this way one ceases to talk about something that matters and begins talking about what others want one to talk about, and you yourself become chatter. The question becomes, what kind of solidarity do you want.
